Our Mission

A Different Approach

  • Conversion and Discipleship is key!
  • We provide a smaller setting than a typical rehab or shelter.  Our typical house will accommodate only three residents.  While supervised closely, there is a greater degree of freedom and responsibility, yet with a high level of accountability.
  • Those who enroll in the LFRM (LightHouse Family Restoration Ministries) must commit to intense discipleship.  Unlike most rehabs and shelters, our enrollees are not taken from church to church. We believe that approach is often better for the shelter, rehab or ministry than it is for the individual seeking help and Christian growth. Our approach is that individuals attend one church where they are encouraged to participate fully in the life of the church.  Here they will be able to serve and contribute.  They will also develop a sense of belonging.  There is no "special seating area".  If they want to serve, opportunities will be extend just as to any other person in the church, commensurate with their growth and discipleship.
  • We do not require a "No Contact" period.  Family Restoration is part of our name.  Visits and phone calls are allowed and encouraged.
  • We expect people to earn a living, so we don't make them wait a certain period to get a job.  In some cases we've seen people have to give up a good job to get into a program.  At the same time, financial responsibility and accountability are also required.
  • Lighthouse Family Restoration Ministries incorporates a range of ministries geared to “restoring families”.  Lighthouse, as a whole, is an intense, residential discipleship program.  We are dedicated to the understanding that the best hope for changed lives rests in God, through trusting fully in His Son, Jesus Christ and by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Candidates for LFRM

Ideally, candidates for this ministry have done well in another program and are looking for the chance to take the next step.  While stepping out into the world with no support may be too much, so is staying in a typical treatment program.  For those who desire to find a deeper walk with Christ Jesus and a renewed hope for the future, the beginning of that future may be here.Lighthouse, as a whole, is an intense, residential discipleship program. We are dedicated to the understanding that the best hope for changed lives rests in God, through trusting fully in His Son, Jesus Christ and by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Enrollees are accepted from shelters and Christian based programs (with a recommendation from that program.) They may also be accepted from the community by application and interview. At this time we are not accepting clients who have not already proven themselves to be serious about their recovery and building a strong, Christian walk. A beginning program may be possible in the future.

Our goal is to minister to entire families whenever possible. Though the residential aspect of LightHouse is only open to men at this time, when possible we will expand it to include women and children as well. While we are focused on helping with addiction recovery, we attempt to address a wide spectrum of Christian living in the real world. Teaching, counseling and individual study are scripture based and intense. Areas of study, in addition to recovery issues, may include marriage skills, finances, job seeking and interviewing skills, parenting, basic home and auto maintenance.

Discipleship expectations are high. Those enrolled in the LightHouse ministry are expected to keep integrity in their spiritual walk. They must attend Bible Study and maintain personal devotions daily. A close relationship with a church family being vital, weekly church services are mandatory. Enrollees are (ideally) expected to be employed before they enroll and maintain employment at all times. They make some contribution to their room and board from their salary. They also contribute to tithe and savings.
